The Silo

The Silo takes its name from its position in what was the grain elevator part of the historic grain silo complex. It reaches 6 floors above the planned new art museum that is coming to the V&A Waterfront. Visitors who arrive in September will be able to view the artworks in the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA). Explore the personal collection of Jochen Zeitz in a display that will rival the Tate Modern in London, MoMA in New York and Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid!
But for now, book a luxury suite at the Silo and experience accommodation unmatched anywhere else in Cape Town. Views from every window gaze out towards the Mother City’s iconic landmarks such as Table Mountain, Signal Hill, the Indian Ocean and all its glory, Robben Island and architecture dating back to the turn of the century.
Sophistication radiates from a building that used to be six rows of seven silos – where plenty of glass breaks the monotony and adds glamour to the ingenious structure. The windows seem to bulge outwards in a pillow effect and enhance the glowing beacon effect when it is dark, reflecting in still harbour waters. First prize is the penthouse, an extraordinary accommodation space facing Table Mountain and boasting a 24-square meter balcony. Plush antique and modern furnishings basque in the sunlight that filters through the curved glass windows giving guests a birds eye view of the city in all her glory. Picture 7 styles of rooms totalling 28, individually designed and decorated with an artistic blend of the old and the new.
Such a new hotel deserves to offer industrial architecture where antiques seem to fit in seamlessly. And their space stretches up and down, not sideways, to fit into the design of what was once tall silos. The puffed-out window bays add space and light to the entire effect, the views bringing a sense of depth. Chic facilities include a spa, three different dining venues, valuable artworks and a fascinating history you can hear from all staff who serve you.
