Guests are afforded the unforgettable sight of elephants as they peacefully wander through the camp on an almost daily basis.

We offer an unmatched variety of activities including day and night drives, boat cruises, walking safaris or our flagship experience, canoeing, which offers you the opportunity to view wildlife from a more natural perspective. The Lower Zambezi is also widely known as one of the best places to catch (and release) a tiger fish or two.

Relax! It’s the only thing we insist upon at Chongwe. You can put your feet up on our furniture without worrying what anyone is going to think... Or curl up amongst plump cushions with a good book and not bother about appearances... We like great service and winning smiles more than dressing for dinner.

These are the ethics we take seriously in all of our award-winning accommodation options.

Chongwe River Camp Elephant At Breakfast

Directly opposite Zimbabwe’ Mana Pools Heritage Site lies Chongwe River Camp, situated on the confluence of the Zambezi and its tributary, the Chongwe River which forms the western boundary of the Lower Zambezi National Park.
The camp is nestled under a complete canopy of winter thorn acacias, in an area where elephants are more numerous than people. It stands in a game management area that reaches a further 80km west along the Zambezi.
This means that although this Zambia holiday destination is outside the (unfenced) park boundary, it is still located in a very prolific wildlife area.
