The North Coast is the most developed region in Mauritius for tourism. There are many interesting tourist attractions to explore in this region. The north coast is marvelously sheltered from the winds. Enjoy phenomenal diving opportunities on some fantastic dive sites.
The island’s only resort town, Grand Baie has an effervescent atmosphere and offers the best nightlife in Mauritius. Find the greatest number of bars, clubs, restaurants and shopping centres!
CAP MALHEREUX AND LA NICOLIERE
This fishing village is steeped in history and is the perfect spot for those in pursuit of excellent deep sea fishing opportunities. Take time to visit the red-roofed Notre Dame Auxiliatrice where you can attend mass on Saturday at 6pm and 9am on Sunday.
Immerse yourself in nature while you enjoy a lakeside break at La Nicoliere. The lake is surrounded by nature preserved hillsides and boasts vegetation that is completely different to the one along the coast. Seek out bats and wild monkeys as you drive uphill in the late afternoon.

Feast your eyes on the wide variety of flora, including some curious species, a pond filled with giant lilies as well as an abundant birdlife.
It's also here that you'll find giant tortoises, some as old as 50 - 60 year and weighing over 300 kg.
