Day 1: Johannesburg, South Africa

Meet your representative and go straight to your accommodation at the Johannesburg Safari Club. Enjoy time doing your own thing in the city of gold and then meet your guide and fellow travellers in the evening.

Day 2: Johannesburg to Mpumalanga, South Africa

Leave the city buzz for the green mountains, hills and valleys of Mpumalanga. Enjoy fantastic passes, rich flowing rivers, waterfalls and lush forests. Stay in the quaint Graskop Hotel in this small forestry town on the Drakensberg Escarpment at the start of the Panorama route.

Day 3-4: Kruger National Park, South Africa

Start the day with breakfast and a dramatic drive along the Panorama Route, rated one of the most beautiful routes and holiday destinations in South Africa. Get your camera out for the exquisite Blyde River Canyon, the 3rd largest canyon in the world then enjoy a stop at Bourke’s Luck Potholes to see how decades of erosion have caused incredible rock formations. Later, we enter the Kruger National Park for 2 nights to experience some of the best wildlife sightings in one of the most famous parks in the world. Two game drives a day will ensure thrilling game viewing for all. Stay at the well-known Berg en Dal Camp with great facilities for your relaxation.

Day 5-6: Kingdom of Swaziland

From the bushveld to a mountain kingdom run by King Mswati III, and one of 3 monarchies in Africa. Enter Swaziland to experience Swazi traditions and a proud culture. Enjoy 2 nights in the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, Swaziland’s pioneer conservation area situated in the “Valley of Heaven”. Tick off rare bird species and look out for hippo, giraffe, zebra, and several antelope, then make the most of a guided walk in the afternoon. Next day, meet some Swazi children at the Umphakatsi Chief’s homestead. Try your hand at grinding maize and plaiting mountain grass or join the children in Swazi song and dance. Taste local food with your hands.

Day 7-8: Zululand, South Africa

Going back to South Africa, we see northern KwaZulu-Natal and the spectacular iSimangaliso Wetland Park, listed as South Africa’s first World Heritage Sites. Enjoy a boat cruise on the St Lucia estuary, seeing hippos and crocodiles up close. A fantastic game drive in the tour vehicle next day in the fabulous Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve will reveal the wealth of wildlife to be seen. Hluhluwe-iMfolozi is the oldest game reserve in Africa and renowned for its endangered black and white rhino. Enjoy Ezulwini Game Lodge for the nights.

Day 9-10: Drakensberg, South Africa

Day 13: Cradock, South Africa

Leaving the Lesotho mountains for the sparsely vegetated town of Cradock in the Karoo. Founded in 1814 as a frontier stronghold, the town is an important agricultural centre with traditional Karoo hospitality. Take time to visit its natural sulphur spring, listen to the Cradock stories and see some of the fine old architecture lining the streets.

Day 14: Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa

Next up is Addo Elephant National Park where you can view a unique wildlife habitat, the famous Addo elephants and the remaining population of the flightless dung beetle. Enjoy a game drive in our tour vehicle, in search of elephant, black rhino, lion, buffalo and leopard. Watch the nocturnal animals later at the floodlit waterhole then retire to bed in Addo Elephant rest camp.

Day 15-16: Tsitsikamma, South Africa

Leaving the wildlife behind, your journey takes you now to the stunning Garden Route of South Africa. Spend 2 nights in the Storms River Village in the Tsitsikamma Village Inn, deep in the verdant Tsitsikamma Forest. Take a leisurely hike along one of the short trails, exploring coastal bush and rocky shoreline. Maybe you want to attempt the world’s highest bungee jump at the Bloukrans River (for own expense)

Day 17: Oudtshoorn, South Africa

A quick trip to see ‘The Heads’ in Knysna, a town nestled on a tranquil lagoon then a drive out to Oudtshoorn via the Outeniqua Mountains. See the famous Cango Caves, their impressive ancient stalagmites and stalactites, and stay at the Turnberry Boutique Hotel in this ostrich farm capital.

Day 18-19: Cape Town, South Africa
