With water sources becoming increasingly hard to find hippo's crowd in their hundreds into the last water holes, and crocodiles dig big caves into river banks to aestivate through the hot season. Chada Katavi Camp Exterior

Chada Katavi Camp is set in the heart of the remote Katavi National Park, in western Tanzania. The safari camp is perched on an elevated vantage point with superb vistas over the Chada floodplains. The canopy of large acacia and tamarind trees provide the perfect cover for a more intimate and exclusive atmosphere.

Accommodation is in 6 capacious walk-in tents with beautiful wooden furniture, crisp white Egyptian cottons on the bed and thick rugs on the floors. The bathrooms feature eco-flush safari toilets, bucket showers and wash stands. The tents have seating areas in the front where guests can absorb the spectacular sunrises over the bush veld.
The facilities at Chada are basic and yet functional but the standards of guiding, food and service are exceptional, aimed at a standard comparable with other permanent and mobile safaris. The campsite offers a library, bar and dining area. The camp uses solar energy for lighting and offers limited laundry facilities.
Picnic breakfasts, brunches and lunches are served alfresco under the canopy of trees. At dinner time, guests sit together at the long table in the dining tent where sumptuous fares are eaten, complimented by a selection of good wine.
Tanzania safaris are conducted by very knowledgeable guides who will enlighten you on the flora and fauna in the park. Game can be viewed on 4X4 game drives and walking safaris.
